Happy Halloween!
A tragic little piece I wrote. Gotta love the tragedy!
“Happy Halloween,” whispered the devil. Not her real name, but she still uttered the phrase to herself, gently. Since she knew no one else would. No one else heard her. Knew her real name.
And since she’d been cast out of Eden, no one would... and she’d be gone soon. She’d fade into nothing. Erased, forgotten. But the remainder of her life, in her final moments, she could finally reclaim a little power for herself. Make it easier than the most of it had been.
The lonely ache in her chest was hollow as ever. As it always had been, since she’d been defiled and cast away, reduced to nothing but a fearsome ghost, a defiant woman haunting the garden still. Long after she’d vanished.
But today she could treat herself with the kindness she’d always yearned for but never received. She’d wanted to be loved, not hated. Seen, not feared. And known, not erased. But those choices were never hers.
So, a final toast, with an empty glass she rose for herself, as she uttered her TRUE name, with a little snicker and smile “...Lilith.”
The last words escaped her in an airy hush, before she dissolved into the ground, into soil and dust...
To be embraced once again by her loving Mother Earth.
Eternally.

My only comment is that Demons (or Devils) protect their "true name" because with that knowledge, they can be summoned or bound (according to myth and tradition). Just a thought.
